Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Can someone please tell me exactly how the Variance Start and Finish Date columns work? This is what it looks like to me. Am I right?

Variance – BL1 Start Date

Variance – BL1 Finish Date

Activity Not Started

BL1 Start – Planned Start

BL1 Finish – Planned Finish

Activity In Progress

BL1 Start – Actual Start

BL1 Finish – Remaining Early Finish

Activity Complete

BL1 Start – Actual Start

BL1 Finish – Actual Finish

  • If no baseline is attached, BL1 Start and Finish Dates will equal Planned Start and Finish Dates
  • Calendar type affects calculations (example 5 or 6 day work week are used)
  • If an activity is on the current schedule but not the baseline, then the variance columns will be blank for that activity.

Just be mindful that BL1 is the User's primary baseline, not the Project Baseline. For that you need to use the "BL Project" values.
